Winning Pure Whites and Grizzle Bloodline

My pure whites and white bandit grizzles come from my very good friend, Dick Althoff in Minnesota now living in Wisconsin from Break-A-Way lofts. I breed and send birds out to big money races across the U.S. Dick’s pure whites and grizzles fly and win from 100 to 350 miles as young birds and 500 miles as old birds. His bloodlines have started many lofts in Minnesota.

When the AU convention race came to Minnesota in ‘97” I called the race secretary and asked him who was the guy to beat on race day and Dick Althoff’s name came up as one of the best in Minnesota. When I called Dick up he said his loft was full and he wasn’t accepting any other birds. I told him a little about my Janssen-Van Loon-Tournier family. He said they were having a meeting at the club and they might open it up for him to handle more birds and he put my name on the list. Three days later I got a call from Dick saying he would handle my birds and he did a great job on that race. 350 mile race 1250 birds, LM 0548 (97) blue bar hen took 5th in that race flying 1894.795 yards per minute. It was the only bird on the north section. All the other birds were 30 miles south. People at the convention said that was the best bird flying against the wind in that AU race. LM 0548 won over 12,000 points at that race plus pools.

A few years ago after knowing Dick since 97 we got talking and he told me he had white birds. I told him I didn’t think white birds won races and he laughed. He said he has been flying these white and white bandit grizzles for over 25 years and winning from 100 to 500 mile races. The best color he likes is the first one through the traps and wins the race on race day. He didn’t care if it was white, black or purple. He told me he only bought the best bloodline in and culled heavy. Buying only the best from Roger Morvedt, Sion, and white bandits from Hapco lofts in California. His pedigree was the basket and race results. A performance proven family of birds for over 25 years. They love to fly and it’s nothing to fly 2 ½ to 3 hours routing around the loft in all different directions.
